MCRATE-C at FEL 2024: Empowering Young Muslims in Mbalmayo

Created by NMworks, The graphic design agency, responsible for all our audio/visual creations

The Forum Éducatif des Lycéens (FEL) is an annual seminar designed to educate and guide young Muslim secondary school students in life, academics, careers, and their overall usefulness to their communities. The 2024 edition of FEL, is the third and held from December 27th to January 4th in Mbalmayo, a town on the outskirts of Yaoundé, Cameroon’s capital. The FEL was organized by CAMSU Yaoundé 1, a branch of the Muslim Students Association of Cameroon.

At MCRATE-C (Muslim Creatives and Technology Community), we are dedicated to empowering Muslim youth through creativity, technology, and entrepreneurship. Our collaboration with CAMSU Yaoundé 1 for this seminar provided a significant opportunity to connect with young Muslims and share our knowledge and expertise.

MCRATE-C's Contribution to FEL 2024

Four of our committed members represented MCRATE-C at FEL 2024, with three delivering impactful sessions:

  1. Content Creation and Social Media Management
Abdel Aziz Nsangou (Founder of MCRATE-C) conducted an insightful session on content creation and social media management. He emphasized the significant impact of these fields on Islamic values and encouraged the youth to become content creators who uphold and spread Islamic principles. Abdel highlighted the importance of diversifying content forms and utilizing modern media to share positive messages.

  2. Craft Workshop by Akeh Mariama
Our Vice President, Akeh Mariama, conducted a workshop where students crafted key holders using sugar beads. This hands-on session nurtured creativity and encouraged participants to explore artistic avenues in a fun and interactive way.

  3. Career Path Guidance by Mohammed Fadil Njoya
Mohammed Fadil Njoya, our Training and Development Lead, delivered a comprehensive lecture on professional career paths, providing students with valuable insights and practical advice to help them navigate their futures.

Enhancing the Event Experience

"Being a Muslim woman does not limit your ability to achieve your dreams. You can proudly wear your hijab and still make a meaningful impact on the world." – Khadeej Bint Ibrahim

At MCRATE-C, we celebrate and support Muslim women who strive to achieve their dreams while staying true to their faith. Let's continue to break barriers and inspire one another!

Meet our dynamic Muslim Female Creative, Adidjatou Hawa AKA Khadeej

She skillfully handled all photography and videography during the FEL with CAMSU Yaoundé 1, capturing every special moment.

At MCRATE-C, we believe artistic expression should include all voices. If there are conditions bounding us, let’s thrive within our zone of influence!

We are Muslims! But above all, we are humans.

MCRATE-C also played a crucial role in enhancing the seminar’s digital and visual presence:

  • We designed all the digital graphics used for the event.

  • Our team captured professional photos and videos during key moments, supplementing CAMSU's phone photography efforts.

  • Adidja Hawa, a regular MCRATE-C member, joined as an assistant photographer. After quick training, she effectively managed the photography during the "women-only session", ensuring privacy and respect for the participants.

Impact and Reflection

What made this event even more special was the partnership with #MCRATE-C (Muslim Creatives and Technology-Community). As a member of MCRATE-C, I had the opportunity to contribute to the women’s-only session by training female students on how to craft beautiful key holders using beads. It was truly empowering to see the creativity and passion these young ladies brought to the craft!

At MCRATE-C, we are a dynamic and inclusive community that seeks to empower Muslim youth in creativity, technology, and entrepreneurship.

Our goal is to help young Muslims tap into their creative potential, embrace the advancements of technology, and foster entrepreneurship, all while remaining grounded in Islamic values.

We celebrate diverse forms of creativity, harness technology for positive impact, and support aspiring Muslim entrepreneurs in realizing their dreams.

It was an amazing experience, and I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this life-changing seminar. I’m excited to continue inspiring and empowering the next generation of young Muslim leaders!
